Inkjet printing allows to overpass existing requirements for technological progress, which are linked with miniaturization of the elements in high-tech devices. In contrast to traditional printing methods, employs fundamentally different principles. Rather than the printed pattern being created by transfer of ink from a pre-existing master pattern, it is progressively built up directly on to the substrate by the deposition of many individual, tiny drops of ink. Hereby, we demonstrate the revolutionary technology of «inkjet printing of optical elements», which is allowing to deposit objects with extremely high resolution (up to 650 dpi).
Applications for security
Inkjet Color Printing by Interference Nanostructures
For this sphere application colorless TiO2 ink with a high refractive index is used and deposited on microembossed paper by an inkjet printer. Nanoscale coating the paper containing printed text or graphics provides an optical effect of selective preservation of the holographic pattern.
Inkjet fabrication of highly efficient luminescent structures based on Eu-doped ZrO2 nanocrystals
Biosensors
Using ink jet printing and specially developed titania ink we have created a universal platform for the oxidase based biosensors and have successfully tested it on glucose and cholesterol detection.
Different types of holograms
Here we demonstrate a methodology suitable for the development of a practical approach towards fabrication of diffraction patterns using a desktop inkjet printer and nonocrystalline sol-gel ink.
Conceptual design of a fully-printed Li-ion battery
On an aluminum pantograph using WAX printing technology, a mask with special microcells is formed, which, successively with the ink jet printing technology, drop by drop, are filled with cathode, electrolyte and anode materials. In the end, the ensemble of microaccumulators is covered with a second current collector. The technology will simplify the process of assembling lithium current sources and create a battery with increased capacity and charge speed.
