Aleksey Komissarov received his PhD in molecular biology at the Institute of Cytology of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2012. In 2013, he became a postdoctoral fellow at the Theodosius Dobzhansky Center for Genome Bioinformatics at Saint Petersburg State University. While working with Steve O. Brien, he gained extensive interdisciplinary experience in molecular biology, genomics, bioinformatics, natural language processing, software development, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Since 2019, he is a leading researcher at the Advanced Materials and Technology Solution Chemistry Institute at ITMO. Aleksey Komissarov research interests include the development of a genome graph for working with human and animal genomic data, working with the non-coding part of the genome, especially with satellite DNA and Alu-repeats.
