Evgeny Kovtunov graduated from the Faculty of Biology of the Saratov State University named after N.G. Chernyshevsky, Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics. In 2014 he obtained the PhD with the thesis “Changes in the DNA structure of mutants of associative alphaproteobacteria Azospirillum brasilense in flagellation and social behaviour” at the Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Plants and Microorganisms of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IBPPM RAS). In the period from 2008 to 2015, he worked in the Laboratory of Microorganism Genetics of the IBPPM RAS, from 2015 to 2018 in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Kazan Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Kazan Scientific Center, RAS. In 2019 he joined ITMO University, where he is currently a postdoc in the group of Molecular Robotics and Biosensor Materials. Professional interests: gene cloning, construction and analysis mutant forms of bacteria, gene expression analysis, sociomicrobiology.
